Pavones = HEAVEN on Earth

View of the Finca at the bottom of the hill where the bus picks you up on the Inter-Americana Highway

Strike a pose

Ran into Kiasa on the bus to Pavones!  Met her at the Flutterby hostel in Uvita (in last blog post)

Walking up to our castle on the hill

Behold...Castillo de Pavones.  Observe the small turret on the top of the castle.  Many wonderful memories were shared up there.  Cocktails, hugs, a stunning view.  Sadly, the turret burnt down two days later by causes still unknown...

So stoked to be in such an amazing place.  Steph always hooks it up! :)

Beautiful stone bathroom.

Kids playing on a downed tree.  Creativity that is abundant when you are young

Board & a babe.  Awesomeness overload!

Epic living room

We saw this beautiful scarlet macaw in the distant trees and I did my best to get a good photo of him

Little did I know he would join me for a close up!!!

View from the turret.  Best vista in all of Pavones.  Sadly, we were the last people to see it...

Gulfo Dulce lies beyond the trees, quietly sending blue rolling waves to shore...

Kids playing with a branch gun

The DAY OF BIRDS.  We were joined by a tucan at lunch.  So lucky!

We quickly became best friends.  I think the upcoming fatty sandwich may of had something to do with it.

Broken broom stick + imagination = A noble swordsman riding a wild stallion galloping away from a group of Knights eyeing your coin purse...

Soccer is life down south

A cold beer, the best waves in Costa Rica, a man could get reaaaalllll comfy up in here

Is that...a bird? A plane? NO its the finca crew joining forces to RAGE in Pavones.

PAVONES POSSE ASSEMBLE!

Two tired birds lounging

Cruising in the back of a pickup to a killer dance party being put on for a local girl with a missing limb.  We helped her get a new leg.  Great cause!

Song on repeat = BA BA AMERICANA

Steph always getting up in the mix

Fatty

Sensai & Steph.  Love you both!

My surfing paparazzi.  Gosh I'm just so uber sick nasty

Take off...

Sensai looking like Conan.  BEAST

Turned some of these bad boys into some killer jewelry.  Had to take a piece of this heaven with me to be reminded of an eventual return...

Kitchen jug-sesh

Hot tub + i-pod = ragetown

This is the new B&B that we stayed at after the fire.  We moved in during a absolute down pour.  What a crazy day.  The next morning the police showed up and took our passport information.  The fire remains unsolved...

Awesome pizza dinner with the Finca Fam!

The pizza was a little crispy...

Wild life around every turn.  Found these guys in a pothole puddle on the side of the road

The last place Steph and I stayed was this B&B called Siempre Domingo (Always Sunday).  Run by the sweetest ex-pats living the dream in Pavones for nearly 20 years

Infinity pool.  Gulfo Dulce.  Jaw dropping.

Scoping the waves.  Literally.

Such a simple, yet beautiful painting.

Reflection

Thousands of these covered the streets at nights.  Super steezy colors.  We called them halloween crabs.

Freshest, most delicious fruit.  Fueling a dude about to shred super hard.

Greatest pool on the planet.

Mermaid Steph was trying to put me on her shoulders...

Pavones, Costa Rica.  A name synonymous with tranquility, exhiliration, love, and simplicity.  This town will always hold a special place in my heart.  From gentle peeling waves, fires, epic dance parties, and life long friends.  Memories made here will last a life time.  However, this place is not without its problems.  In dealing with the police and speaking with locals, we learned of high levels of corruption and areas where vast improvements could be made.  For example, the hotel fire would not have destroyed the entire town if they had a fire truck.  Also, during the clean up, a bunch of Steph's things were stolen.  We learned of the police corruption when we attempted to file a police report.

Needless to say, we will definitely be back someday.  And we will triumphantly return in the name of justice, love, and tasty waves!
