Destination Paradise

We have safely arrived in San Jose, CR!  The city is alive with street vendors, vigilante traffic, and...ladyboy prostitutes :)   Oh the life lessons keep on coming.  We managed to find a super chill hostel where I am blogging from in downtown SJ.  Great crowd....people from Germany, Canada, Argentina.  The world is so big and small at the same time.  It is so inspiring to be surrounded by people that have a passion for the unknown.  I feel at ease immersed in company that goes with the flow in such an effortless manner.

Strange Arrangement played til the wee hours of the morn' in John boys bass-ment.

I am pretty tired so this won't be a lengthy post.  Just wanted to let everyone know Chris and I arrived with no problems (aside from losing our chia seeds).  I want to thank everyone in Denver that showed us a very special send off.  We love you all very much and had a blast throwing it down!  Mitch/Jake/Erik/John/Matt thanks for all the hospitality.  We shall be crossing paths again soon enough.  Included are some pictures from the send off party + a Boy Noize show at Beta in downtown Denver.  Enjoy!

!! Video of Finca Bellavista !!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qj_id2DC2ZE

Click on the link above to watch a very well done 5 minute video about the finca where Chris and I will be staying/working.  If my psychic powers are strong enough...just after watching, I sense that you will say to yourself, "that is the coolest thing in the whole world."  This Tarot reading is free of charge :)

The time has come...

The mad dash has begun.  The day of departure snuck up on Chris and I like a jungle puma stalking an unsuspecting hiker :)  *mature edit* The day of departure snuck up on Chris and I like a cell block 4 prison inmate pulling the classic group shower reach around.  The past few days have consisted of gobs of planning and gathering gear from storage units, thrift stores, and army depots.  The rain forest necessitates many unusual items and we have been forced to leave a few comfort items behind (ThunderCatz pajama pants, Hannah Montana neck pillow with built in speakers, Zebra Cakes, etc.).  How we will live without 3 Starbucks per city block and 650 on-demand HD cable channels is still incomprehensible, but as long as our BigMacs (with extra special sauce) are delivered to our tree house via pulley system...we shall survive.

Below are some pictures of the systematic chaos that packing for a trip like this involves.  I bubble with excitement like a kid on Christmas as I roll up my camo rain pants and cut tags/shrink-wrap with my new Leatherman!  Everything you see will fit in two backpacks and 2 duffle bags.  We must harness all of our Tetris skills and downtown parallel parking experience to be able to close those zippers!

Thanks to everyone for checking in!  Our plane takes off on the morning of Tuesday, March 22nd.  We will land in San Jose, CR that night.  My goal is to have this blog be 60% pictures/videos and 40% writing.  I know everyone wants to see the beauties of Central America, so I'll do my best to keep the pictures coming!

PS- Chris got a GoPro (waterproof, shockproof adventure style video camera) so stay tuned for some awesome videos in the coming weeks :)

Finca Website

www.fincabellavista.net

Here is the website to the finca where Chris and I will be staying/working.  Check it out!  It is very informative and beautifully done.  Packed with stunning pictures of the treehouses, flora, fauna, and scenery.  There is also a great youtube video found on the home page.

Find out more about the two owners (Crested Buttians!) Matt and Erica Hogan, as well as how this fairy tale community came to be...

Packing our bags...

Hello everyone!

Thanks for checking out my blog.  For those of you who don't know, I am heading to Costa Rica to work at a sustainable tree house community called Finca Bellavista.  I am heading down with my good buddy Chris Garren where we will be working at the finca for 2 months building trails, gardening, building zip-lines, and having the time of our lives!

We really wanted to document this unique adventure and thought a blog would be a great way for friends/family to check in and see us swinging from vines, shredding some surf, and high-fiving monkeys :)  I will do my best to update pictures and write a few paragraphs on the weeks happenings when I get internet access in the jungle.

Thank you to everyone for the interest and support.  Now get out there and rip it...because life is short and the waves are barreling!!!
